March 19th Meeting Notes
Attendees: Larry Dell, Laurie Kiser, John Sodergreen, Heather Stringfield, Gwen DeBlauw, Leslie Wilson, Jennifer Cawthorne, Chuck Cawthorne, Michele Johnson, Jim Dunne, Diane Dunne, Kara McAnally, Clarence Hipona, Mary Hipona, Debbie Prince, Marie Hannon, Amie Brecht Davis, Karen Horn
VP: Reminded parents about the scrimmage Saturday morning at OM. The Varsity team will play in the stadium and JV on the practice field.
Team Dinners: Debbie Dell will be the point of contact (POC) for Varsity and Laurie Kiser will be the POC for JV. Please send your preferred night to sponsor a dinner to the appropriate POC. The first Varsity Team Dinner will be on 22 March at Firehouse Subs sponsored by the Dell and Stringfield families.
JV has decided to hold team dinners after games. Laurie will send out more information later.
Team dinners are usually the night before a game. Families (alone or together) provide dinner for the boys either out at a local establishment (CiCi’s, Squisitos’s, and Three Brothers have all been used in the past) or hotdogs on the grill at someone’s home. The boys aren’t usually picky – they just like to eat (bond) with their teammates. If no team dinner is scheduled to be sponsored by any family, then the boys usually go to CiCi’s on Mountain Road on their own after practice.
Coach Spence will sponsor a spaghetti dinner at his house on 19 April for Varisty.
Fundraising: The ads are due this Friday, 16 March for the spring program.
POML worked in the concession stand twice in the fall and winter and received the following funds from the OM Patriots Sports Booster Group:
Fall – $177.28 x 2 = $354.56
Winter – $144.54 x 2 = $289.08
Heather Stringfield made a plea for volunteers to join and actively help the Sports Boosters group as an officer, committee chair, or committee helper. If there are not new members who will step up at the 12 April meeting, there will be no concessions next year, meaning no opportunity for POML to earn more funds for the team during the off-season, and no concessions open for food or bathroom access during the spring LAX season.
The LAX bags are in and will be ready for Saturday’s scrimmage.
At the next meeting, we will have to discuss the annual team banquet at Michael’s 8th Avenue. The price tag for this is approximately $2,500. A suggestion was made at the last meeting and generally agreed upon that the boys should pay for their banquet tickets. This will be decided for sure at a later meeting.
A budget for senior night needs to be decided as well.
Next meeting is TBA.
