Varsity Coaching Staff
Coach Steve Spence
Head Coach

A 1992 graduate of Severna Park High School, Coach Spence went on to be a standout midfielder at St. Mary's College. Graduating from St. Mary's in 1996, Spence earned first and second team all-conference honors, helping the Seahawks to a national ranking of 13 during his junior year. As a Senior captain, well respected by his teammates as well as his coaches, he earned MVP honors. Beginning his career at Old Mill High School in 1999, he has turned the boys's lacrosse program into a thriving culture of determination and brotherhood. Coach David Jacques
Head Varsity Assistant
David Jacques is a 2001 graduate of Broadneck High School. He went on to play goalie for York College of Pennsylvania until graduation in 2005. He began coaching at Dallastown High School in Pennsylvania in 2005 before returning home to Anne Arundel County in 2006 where he began coaching at Old Mill High School at the JV level through the 2009 season. After being away for two years, Coach Jacques returns to the program as the varsity defensive coordinator.
Coach Johnny McNulla
Varsity Assistant
John McNulla started playing lacrosse during the summer of his freshman year of high school. He played two years of Junior Varsity and was enthusiastic about being moved up to Varsity toward the end of his sophomore season. In the winter of his senior year, John McNulla was selected along with several elite players from Anne Arundel County schools to participate in the Mega Lax tournament in Seattle, Washington. During John’s senior year he was one of the top point scorers for his 2008 class. During his time as a member of “The Brothers” lacrosse at Old Mill, he was a part of the teams first ever back-to-back-to-back winning seasons.
Wanting to share his knowledge and passion for the sport, in spring 2011 John McNulla was the Assistant Head Coach for the Arden Attackers Pee-wee Lacrosse League. He is proud to be back at his alma mater, where he is currently providing offensive coaching assistance with the Old Mill Varsity lacrosse team.
Coach Matt Wagner
Assistant Varsity
Coach Wagner is a 2007 alumni of Old Mill High School. Coach Wagner earned varsity letters in lacrosse each of his four years at Old Mill. He went on to play division two lacrosse at St. Andrews for one year before transferring to University of Maryland. As a starting midfielder Matt helped lead the Terp’s club team to an 18-1 record his sophomore year, with their only loss coming in the NCLL national championship game. This will be Matt’s first year coaching at Old Mill.
JV Coaching Staff
Coach Kjeld Lauritzen
Head Coach
Kjeld Lauritzen played his high school lacrosse at South Carroll HS in Carroll County. He graduated in 1996 earning defensive player of the year and defended a 10th straight county title for the school before being defeated in the 3A/4A regional championships. He played his college lacrosse at Stevenson University as part of the 1st recruited class to the University. In 1997 he earned the “Coaches Choice” award and followed it up in 1998 earning co-MVP honors. Also in 1998 he was recognized by the NCAA for placing 2nd in the individual goalie statistics by posting two games with 35 saves each. He is proud of the program that he and his teammates built and remains an officer in the Mustang Alumni Lacrosse Club. Coach Lauritzen is in his second year as Head JV Coach and teaches in the Social Studies Dept after graduating from Towson University with his M.A.Teaching.
Coach Brad Smith
Volunteer Coach
Coach Smith is a 2005 alumni of Old Mill High School. While at Old Mill, he broke and has earned many scoring records. Brad was honorable mention all county and the best shooter to walk through the halls of Old Mill. Brad went on to play a year at Catonsville Community College, where he earned first team all conference and all region honors. While at CCBC, Coach had 74 points. Brad took his skills to Wesley College, where he continued his great success as an all around amazing attackman. At Wesley, Brad earned first team All CAC in 2009 and was put up for the senior national game. While at Wesley, Coach Smith had over 120 points. Coach Smith is in his second year at Old Mill and this year he is the JV offensive coordinator.
