Rockfish Winning streak ends at the semifinals

Your Rockfish Lacrosse Team lost in the semi-finals to eventual tournament champions Victoria by a score of 3-8. Despite the loss, the team fought hard against a team comprised of all seniors, where our team fielded 7 Sophomores, 2 Juniors and 9 seniors. "The future of this tournament looks bright for the Rockfish," Coach Jacques said. "with having so many younger guys, their experience this year will pay dividends for next year." Playing against Canadian teams is always an experience, and hopefully next years squad will know what it takes mentally and physically to beat a good Canadian squad. The overall trip was awesome. The players not only got to play lacrosse, but they enjoyed a day in downtown Seattle, a night out to dinner at the Fox Sports Restaurant and making new friendships. On this trip, 9 high school teams were represented. I can't wait until next year already.
Rockfish Advance to Playoffs with win over Seattle Starz

The Rockfish advance to the playoffs with a hard fought win over the home team Seattle Starz. Despite playing with several less players, the Rockfish were able to rally together to hold onto a 5-4 win under the lights. Coach Spence went on to say that he was "...excited to watch the players come together and beat a very good team in head's up play. We have our work cut out for us tomorrow but our kids are up to the challenge." Three games separate the Rockfish from a Seattle championship.
Rockfish Take Care of Business in Game Two

The Rockfish came out ready to play against Canadian squad Langley for their second game of the Seattle tournament. Going down 2-1 early against Langley, the Rockfish never looked back in the 11-5 defeat in what became an offensive showcase for the Maryland team. Says Head Coach Steve Spence, "I'm really pleased with how this game turned out. The kids came together on both offense and defense and we were able to get a much needed win." The Rockfish now play the home team, Seattle Starz, in the stadium to determine seedings for the playoffs on Sunday.

Rockfish Drop Opener to Top Seeded Victoria

The first match for the Rockfish in the Seattle Tournament saw the Maryland squad losing 5-3 to top seeded Victoria Falls Lacrosse Club. In a game that could have gone either way, questionable officiating and missed opportunities on extra-man offense and defense ultimately cost the Rockfish the opener. Says assistant head coach David Jacques, "It's a really tough loss but the kids were able to get valuable experience against the very different style of Canadian lacrosse and will be ready for our second game against Canadian team Langley." Head coach Steve Spence could not be reached for comment.
